On October 11, a conference was held to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Yichang Municipal People's Congress. Xiong Zhengyu, Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, attended the conference and emphasized the need to thoroughly study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important thoughts on upholding and improving the system of people’s congresses, as well as the spirit of his important speech delivered at the conference celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the National People’s Congress. We must earnestly carry out the deployment requirements of the provincial party committee, firmly uphold, continuously improve, and effectively operate the system of people’s congresses, thereby providing solid institutional guarantees for accelerating the construction of Yichang as a model city for the comprehensive protection of the Yangtze River and for building a world-class Yichang.
Ma Zejiang, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and Mayor, presided over the meeting. Zhou Zhengying, Director of the Standing Committee of the Municipal People’s Congress, delivered a speech at the plenary session. Wang Juncheng, Chairman of the Municipal Political Consultative Conference, attended the meeting.
Li Jie, a deputy to the National People's Congress and Party Secretary and Chairman of Yichang Renfu Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., attended the conference and delivered an exchange speech. Li Jie noted that as a deputy to the NPC who grew up in Yichang, he has personally witnessed the tremendous changes taking place not only in Yichang but throughout the entire country. Especially in recent years, with the support of Party committees and governments at all levels, the pharmaceutical industry has accelerated its transformation—from generic drug production to follower innovation and then to original innovation. Yichang Renfu has also grown from an obscure small enterprise into Asia’s largest R&D and manufacturing company for anesthetic drugs. The deep care and policy support provided by the Party and the state to private enterprises have created favorable development opportunities for both the industry and individual companies, unleashing even greater momentum for growth.
Since taking office as a deputy to the National People’s Congress, Li Jie has conducted in-depth research and diligently fulfilled his duties. He has submitted a total of 76 proposals to the NPC, covering such diverse areas as local development, the pharmaceutical industry, and social welfare. Focusing on Yichang’s development, he has repeatedly submitted to the national authorities a series of proposals aimed at accelerating Yichang’s transformation into a national logistics hub city. Issues such as “Two Ports, One Road, and One Pipeline,” the “Jiangnan Fandaba Oil and Gas Pipeline Project,” and “Accelerating the Development of Multimodal Transport” have already received approval from the relevant national authorities. As a representative of the pharmaceutical industry, he has extensively sought the opinions of experts in the medical community and conducted thorough research into cancer pain management and palliative care. Based on this research, he proposed the suggestion of “strengthening comprehensive management services for cancer pain and promoting the development of palliative care.” Currently, the national government is steadily expanding pilot programs for palliative care, and Yichang has been included in the pilot scope. With regard to issues concerning people’s livelihoods, he has put forward dozens of proposals covering education, health, elderly care, childcare, and other fields, wholeheartedly conveying the demands and voices of grassroots communities.
Li Jie stated that, as a deputy to the People's Congress, he will live up to the people’s trust and remain firmly committed to his responsibilities. While performing his duties with high quality, he will continue to lead the company in accelerating its pace of “innovation + internationalization,” making an even greater contribution to the development of Yichang’s biopharmaceutical industry!
